FAMILY PROGRAMS

Child Tutoring: Tutoring is for elementary children between grades 1st through 4th who need assistance in reading and/or math.  Kids will have one-to-one instruction with a trained tutor. Students gain confidence and skills through learning games, reading time, and skill-focused activities. Interested participants need to fill out and return the child tutoring application form below to the Family Literacy Center.

Parents and kids will have fun with learning activities that promote skill growth in reading, communication, word recognition, and understanding.  New things to do and learn are available at every session

Kindergarten Readiness is a one-hour workshop for parents and caregivers with children 4-5 years old. We teach fun and re-creatable activities at home to help get your little one ready for kindergarten! Caregivers and parents will have fun, and gain resources, and knowledge about what their child needs to know before going to school. Children get to make crafts, play games, and will get to take home a free book as well!

Themed Math Game Nights are designed for families with children between the ages of 5 to 9 years old.  Parents and kids will have fun with learning activities that promote skill growth in math, problem-solving, math operations, and number patterns.

Family Literacy Center Playgroups are designed for families with children 5 years old and younger. Sessions include story-time, crafts, music, and more! It is a great opportunity to meet other families with children the same age and make new friends! This program is funded by United Way of Lapeer County.
