The Family Literacy Center helps people learn and grow. We offer free tutoring for adults who want to earn their GED, learn English, or improve their reading and writing. We also help children get ready for school and support parents as they learn with their kids. Our goal is to build skills, confidence, and a stronger community through education.
All of our tutoring services are free to students.
We tutor adults ages 18 and older in GED, English as a Second Language (ESL), reading, and math. A few times a year, we also offer tutoring for children in 1st through 4th grade. Right now, we do not have tutoring for middle school or high school students, but we hope to offer more programs in the future.
Everyone’s journey is different! How long it takes depends on your starting skill level and how much time you can give to studying. When you join the Family Literacy Center, we’ll do an assessment to see where you are and help you make a plan that fits your goals. With steady effort and support, you can reach your GED one step at a time!
There are many ways to help! You can volunteer as a tutor, help in the office, or join us at events. You can also serve as a board member or make a donation to support our programs. Every hour and every dollar helps us change lives through learning!
