Adult Services.
- GED Prep and Support. Many of our students come to our program wanting to earn their GED. We offer individualized tutoring and small group instruction including GED math calculator classes. Our GED program is tailored to each student to help them reach their education goals and help them through the process of earning a GED. In 2023, 53 students earned their GED. In 2024, 65 of our students earned their GED. Since January 2025, we have helped 63 students earn their GED and counting!
- English as a Second Language (ESL). The Family Literacy Center was initially founded as an ESL program in the Christian Reformed Church of Imlay City, in 1980. Our English as a Second Language Conversation Classes provide ESL students with instruction English conversation skills in a fun, and interactive class. Our ESL students come from a variety of countries and speak many different native languages. ESL students can have wide range in their English skill level. All are welcome and the ESL program is designed to to meet you where you are at. We are excited to have partnered with the Tuscola ISD Center in Caro to expand this program to other surrounding counties.
- Basic Literacy. We provide basic reading instruction and skill development to students who need to improve their literacy or numeracy skills.
- JMG. The JMG program offers educational support and training, career guidance, barrier removal, and soft skills training for out-of-school youth from age 16-24 in the thumb area of Michigan. This is a state and national program with extensive training, reporting, and performance requirements.
